The Ulster Póc Fada gets under way on Saturday 07 June at 11.00am with Graham Clarke defending the title that he has won for the last two years over the same course.

This event has grown over the past couple of years and this year the Ulster Council is expecting over 36 competitors in Senior, Veteran (over 40) and Under 16 categories for both Hurling and Camogie. The winners of Saturday’s event will represent Ulster in the National Póc Fada, which is held in the Cooley Mountains in August each year.

Ulster’s Champion Clarke has come close to National glory on a number of occasions and he will be determined to prove that he can be ‘King of the Mountains’ in this event. Close on his tail will be Jason McManus from Fermanagh. Jason has also competed in the Ulster event for the past couple of years and he is determined to win an Ulster crown. Newcomers to the event include Armagh goalkeeper Joby Burke and Derry’s long range scoring machine Ruairi Convery. There will be some big hitters on display and reining champion Clarke will have to be at his brilliant best to overcome the challenge from the rest of Ulster.

The Camogie event is the first time that the girls will have competed over the Carn Togher course. Rhona Torney from Antrim leads a class field that will include Armagh’s Catherine Toner and Colette McSorley. The girl that masters the terrain will be winner on the day.

All Entrants and staff should report to Slaughtneil GAC AT 10.00am and the Senior Competition will commence at 11.00am sharp.

Competitors will be transported from Slaughtneil to the starting point of the competition.
