There were wins for Antrim and Fermanagh tonight in the Bank of Ireland Dr McKenna Cup.

Bank of Ireland Dr McKenna Cup Section A
Antrim 3-11 Queens 1-11 at The Dub

Three second half goals from Brian Neeson (2) and Michael McCann were enough to secure victory for Antrim over Queens at The Dub this evening.

Queens had started the game the brighter and held a 0-8 to 0-5 lead at the interval. Brian Neeson hit the net shortly after the break before Gerard McGovern replied for Queens to edge the students back in front. However further goals from McCann and a deft added-time lob from Neeson sealed the win for the Saffron men.

Bank of Ireland Dr McKenna Cup Section B
Fermanagh 1-13 St Marys 0-14 at Garvaghey

At the Tyrone GAA Centre at Garvaghey, a second half goal from Ciaran Flaherty was required to secure victory for Fermanagh over St Mary’s. It was a tight encounter throughout with the sides locked at 0-6 a piece at the break, but the Erne men finished strongest to hold on for the win.

Meanwhile, Cavan referee Maggie Farrelly made history as she became the first female to referee a Senior Men’s Inter-County game. Congratulations Maggie – a fantastic achievement!
