Ulster Póc Fada Champions 2017

The Ulster Póc Fada Final was held last night on Cuilcagh Mountain, sitting on the Cavan/Fermanagh border at Blacklion, the home of Shannon Gaels GAC.

The splendid course, which had over 100 people on it, set not far from Marble Arch Caves saw 26 competitors aiming for glory.
The Senior Men’s competition was completed over a 4km course, with Antrim’s Donal McKernan winning on a score of 36 Pócs and 18 metres.  Both Donal and runner-up Ruairi Convery (38 Pócs, 69 metres) will go forward to National Finals on Saturday 5th August.

The Mens Under 16 winner was Ciaran Watson from Down who completed their shorter course of 1.8km in 14 Pócs 98 metres, will also go forward to the Nationals Finals.

Both Ladies competitions were completed over the same 1.6km course and like their male counterparts these were also very close events.
Orlagh O’Hara from Cushendall Antrim won the Senior Ladies with 11 Pócs and 67 metres.  While Roisin McCormick from Loughgiel, Antrim won the U16 Ladies just 7m behind the senior winner (11 Pócs 60 metres). Both will go forward to represent Ulster on Saturday 5th August.
