| Playing Background : Stephen is a member of the famous Ballinderry Shamrocks GAC in Derry and enjoyed great success as a player winning Championship medals at all grades during his career. He has 3 Derry Senior Championship medals, and was part of the historic team that won Ulster and All Ireland Club titles in 2001/2. At College and Third Level Stephen won 2 MacRory Cup and 1 Hogan Cup titles with St Patrick’s College Maghera and All Ireland Fresher winner with UUJ. Stephen also played for Derry Minors (95&96) and Derry U-21’s (98 &99). He has recently retired from playing and has taken up marathon running recently completing events in Belfast and Dublin. As an Administrator Stephen showed an early interest in GAA affairs becoming his Club’s Registrar at only 16 years old and also was Derry’s Youth Representative at Annual Congress in the same year. He has served his local club in various positions over the years including PRO and in recent years as Development Officer. He has also coached and managed at various levels from U-8 through to the Senior Reserve footballers. In his position now within the Ulster Council Stephen attends many County, Provincial and National GAA meetings. |
| Professional Role : As Head of Operations, Compliance and Physical Development for the Council Stephen is a member of the Senior Management Team reporting to the Provincial Director and Ulster GAA Management Committee. Stephen is responsible for leading aspects of the Council’s Operations including: The development and implementation of various strategies within the Council; Managing various Capital and Revenue programmes relating to the GAA in Ulster; Advising the Council, County Committees and Clubs on funding and developmental issues relevant to the GAA in the Province; Ensuring the Ulster GAA is compliant in areas of legal affairs, contractual arrangements, equality and resource management; Managing the Ulster GAA’s various commercial, marketing and sponsorship arrangements in conjunction with partners; Overseeing the Ulster GAA’s strategy and investment in its significant physical assets portfolio including Provincial, County, Regional, County and Club; Leading the Ulster GAA’s compliance in all Health and Safety matters and assisting the Provincial Director to plan, organise and manage all major fixtures run by the Ulster GAA; Leading the Ulster GAA’s strategy for Regional and County Centres for Excellence, development of Main County Grounds and Secondary County venues; Servicing and supporting the Council’s Development Committee, Parks and Safety Committee and Events Committee; Lead Executive Officer in the Council’s business planning for a new Major Provincial Stadium for the GAA in Belfast and servicing the Ulster GAA’s Stadium Advisory Group. The Head of Operations also supports the Provincial Director in representing the GAA in Ulster at various Central GAA Committees and Sub-Committees particularly in the area of National Infrastructure and on Safety in Sports Grounds matters. In addition, through the responsibilities above Stephen has much interaction with public bodies at Central and local government and public bodies, and in particular acts as liaison officer to Sport Northern Ireland. |

| Playing Background : Liam won a Rannafast Cup medal with St Colm’s Derry in 1963 and McRory Cup and Hogan Cup medals in 1965; a member of the St Columba’s Urney Club he represented Tyrone at Minor level in 1965. Liam has served as Treasurer of the Urney club in 1960′s and Secretary of St Malachy’s, Edendork in the 1990′s. Liam was Tyrone County Chairman 2001-2004 when Tyrone won 2 National League titles and the Sam Maguire Cup for the first time. |
| Professional Role : As Project Assistant for the Ulster Council, Liam’s main role is advising Council / County Boards on Capital Development Projects such as Stadia Safety and Floodlighting for main County Grounds. |
