monaghan-mayo-aimfcqf2008.jpgLast Saturday in Pearse Park, Longford, Monaghan and Tyrone minors experienced differing fortunes.  Monaghan lost out after extra time to Connacht champions, Mayo.  The Farney county were hanging on to a one point lead until Cathal Freeman fired over an equaliser.  Despite five points from Kieran Hughes, Monaghan lost out in extra time on a scoreline of 1-12 to 0-09.

Ulster champions, Tyrone had to withstand a strong Roscommon challenge as they emerged victorious on a scoreline of 1-15 to 1-08 to reach the All Ireland Semi Final.  They needed a first half goal from Kyle Coney to go in leading 1-6 to 1-4 at half time.  A strong final quarter from the Tyrone lads, with scores from Matthew Donnelly, Patrick McNeice and Ronan Tierney taking them a step further than last year.   Tyrone now meet Meath in the All Ireland Semi Final.
