Airtricity to sponsor GAA Health Booklet

November 21st, 2011

Ulster GAA has announced Airtricity as the new sponsor for their Primary School Health Booklet.

Speaking at the announcement of sponsorship Ulster GAA President Aogán Ó Fearghail stated, “I am absolutely delighted to welcome Airtricity onboard as sponsors for our very successful Primary Schools Health Booklet and I look forward to working with them over the coming year.

“Ulster GAA’s Health booklet is specially designed to promote healthy eating and healthy living to primary school children. We hope it will inspire children to think about what’s good for them and hopeful introduce some healthy living into their young lives.”

“Airtricity is an ideal partner for this project as they already have a good track record of providing educational material for children and young people to understand energy and sustainable living. We hope this will compliment the work of Ulster GAA’s school coaches to bring a strong message to over 10,000 children over the coming year about good living practices.”

Welcoming the partnership with the Ulster GAA Council, Airtricity Head of Corporate Affairs, Jason Cooke, said. “This partnership with the GAA in Ulster is a natural fit with Airtricity’s association with helping young people make informed choices at an early age. That might be around nutrition and healthy living as well as sustainability and energy efficiency. The interactive nature of the booklet sits well alongside our own online ‘Operation Energy’ resource, aimed at schoolchildren.”

Airtricity Ulster GAA’s Health Booklet is an interactive learning tool, aimed at helping children understand the importance of eating a healthy balanced diet. In addition to the puzzles and quizzes, children have the opportunity to track their own eating and are offered advice if changes are necessary. There’s also a section for parents to get involved; ensuring healthy eating is truly a family affair!

Available in both English and as Gaeilge, Airtricity and Ulster GAA have ensured that all pupils involved in the Sport in Schools Programme can fully avail of this learning resource.
