Tír na nÓg and Brocagh claim Ulster Club League titles
The Intermediate and Junior Ulster Club Football Leagues reached their conclusion on Sunday as Tír na nÓg, Randalstown from Aontroim and Brocagh Emmetts from Tír Eoghain claimed the respective titles.
Tír na nÓg faced a fancied Gortin side in the final of the Intermediate grade at Ballinderry and there was little to pick between the sides for much of the opening half with Gortin’s ability to get goals keeping them in touch. However a Tír na nÓg goal just before the break sent them into the changing rooms four points to the good at half time.
The Antrim men pulled away in the second half out-scoring the Tyrone side 1-3 to 0-2, Gortin’s cause not helped by their reduction to 13 men. Tir na nÓg ran out winners 2-10 to 2-2.
In the Junior grade there was joy for Tír Eoghain side Brocagh Emmetts who overcame Magilligan from Doire in the final at Newbridge. The Loughshore men went through the whole league unbeaten and had five points to spare over their opponents 0-15 to 2-4.
The Senior final will see Down’s Kilcoo in action against Ballinderry from Derry. Kilcoo had a comfortable success over Dromore emerging 5-6 to 0-7 winners, while Ballinderry also triumphed with a bit in hand, beating Glenullin 1-16 to 0-7.
The game will take place on Friday 15th March at 8pm in Ballinderry.
