Antrim 0-15  Westmeath 0-15

Antrim are in second place, but they were held to a draw by Westmeath at Casement Park thanks to a late Brendan Murtagh point.

The home side were missing many of their top men but led early on as Michael and Brendan Herron, Colm Duffin and Karl Stewart all fired over points.

Andrew Mitchell and Paddy Dowdall led a Westmeath comeback however and the Lake County in fact led at the break on a score of 0-10 to 0-8.

With Stewart prolific, the Saffrons scored five of the six opening points of the second half to re-establish their lead on a score of 0-13 to 0-11 but as the game swung one way then the other Westmeath were never out of it and hit back themselves with the game at 0-14 apiece heading into injury time.

Michael Herron, however, looked to have won it for Antrim only for Murtagh to strike even later and ensure a point, Westmeath’s first of the campaign.

Allianz NHL Division 2
Laois 1-13  Down 0-10

Laois defeated Down to move above them with their second win of the season, Niall Rigney’s charges claiming a six-point win at Portlaoise.

Having beaten Carlow last time out, Rigney’s men were looking for back-to-back wins and while the opposition was a step up they led 0-5 to 0-5 at the break.

The Ulster men then held their own in the second half before extending their lead to climb onto four points and put themselves in the promotion mix.

Allianz NHL Division 3B
Donegal 1-19  Longford 3-11

Longford produced a stirring comeback against Donegal in Division 3B of the National Hurling League but couldn’t quite come back in Letterkenny.

Going in 0-16 to 0-4 behind at the break, it was always going to be hard for Longford to catch Donegal despite having the wind for the second period. However, they battled brilliantly and ended up only going down by two points.

Allianz NHL Division 3B
Tyrone 2-10  Fingal 2-14

Fingal ended up having too much for Tyrone in Dungannon on Sunday but the home side did rally in the second half having trailed 2-9 to 0-5 at the break.

The win puts Fingal right in the mix in the promotion stakes.

Allianz NHL Division 4
Cavan 1-13  Fermanagh 2-12

Cavan, resurgent after their magnificent win over South Down last weekend, battled gamely before going down to Fermanagh in Ballyconnell on Sunday.

Fermanagh always had a narrow lead in the game but Cavan, insprired by Eugene Hill, continued to fight till the death only to come short by two points.

Allianz NHL Division 4
Sligo 2-13  Monaghan 0-05

Sligo always were too good for Monaghan at Markievicz Park on Sunday, leading the whole way to a facile 2-13 to 0-5 win.

Sligo had two goals by the break, leading 2-6 to 0-3 and the win pushes them just behind Fermanagh and ahead of Monaghan in the Division Four table.
