Red Hands collect Minor Title
Ulster Minor Football Championship Final:
Tyrone 1-14 Armagh 0-05
Tyrone ran out convincing winners over neighbours Armagh in Sunday’s Ulster Minor football final at Clones.
The Red Hands raced into a four-point lead thanks to two Ronan O’Neill frees, a 45 from Richard Donnelly and the first score from play by Conan Crugan.
Armagh, the defending champions, found themselves 0-9 to 0-2 behind at the interval, their scores coming from Ryan Rafferty and Paul McGeown.
Ryan Devlin kicked the only goal in the second half to confirm Tyrone’s win.
The destiny of the Minor crown was never in doubt as Armagh were overwhelmed in the opening half.
After those opening four scores, Tyrone’s total was boosted with scores from Devlin, John McCullagh (2), Niall Sludden and Eunan Deeney.
Donnelly added another 45 early in the second half before Harry Og Conlon and Devlin scored from play.
A McGeown free and Ryan Conlon point from play added to Armagh’s tally.
But then Devlin, set up by Og Conlon, netted the goal to leave Tyrone home and dry.
