Coláiste Uladh Gaeltacht Course

May 13th, 2011

The Ulster GAA Council and Coláiste Uladh are pleased to present an Irish Language Gaeltacht course designed to improve the student’s spoken Irish and increase appreciation of Irish Culture. The course is both exciting and enjoyable. Students will have fun and appreciate GAA and culture through Gaeilge, and a highlight will be a trip/turas to the Ulster Senior and Minor Football Finals.

The course will encourage spoken Irish, provide confidence building in the use of the language along with raising awareness of Gaelic culture including music, song, dance, drama, history, heritage and games.

Formal morning classes are taught by fully trained teachers. There will be a varied programme of GAA coaching, history/heritage trips and presentations, art, beach trips, hikes, music evenings; céilithe, fancy dress etc. etc. and of course trip to Ulster Final in Clones!

Many of students return year after year and therefore have a high standard of Irish. However, for many, this will be the first time they will experience Irish as a living language. In the afternoon students participate in informal activities. The primary aim of these activities is to help the students achieve fluency. “Rial na Gaeilge” is enforced in an enlightened, constructive and fair way, with the emphasis on reward and incentive for effort.

€200 deposit secures a place on the summer course.  A further fee of €30 will be required to cover all Tours, trips, events and the Cólaiste Educational Booklets.
