Take to the Hills for the Ulster Cancer Foundation

The Ulster Cancer Foundation (UCF) is calling local people to lace up their walking boots and take part in their Ben Nevis Challenge to raise funds for cancer patients in Northern Ireland.

Neill Grainger, Senior Development Officer, UCF said, “The Ben Nevis Challenge offers an exhilarating personal experience but one which also benefits the work of UCF.  It is shocking to think that 1 in 3 people here will be diagnosed with cancer.  It is a disease that touches the lives of so many people.

“As the leading local cancer charity we provide care services, information and support for all those affected by cancer and with the generous support of people like you we are able to continue our work.  All funds raised are spent locally to help and support people with cancer in Northern Ireland.

You can climb Britain’s highest mountain, Ben Nevis, which stands at 4,408ft on Friday 10th June – Sunday 12th June 2011 and Friday 16th September – Sunday 18th September 2011.  The maximum gradient is 1:5, so there is no strenuous climbing involved.

UCF has taken more than 4,500 walkers on challenge events, raising in excess of £2m pounds to provide vital services for cancer patients and their families in Northern Ireland.

Each participant is asked to pay a non-refundable booking fee of £50.00 and the minimum sponsorship required is £595.
