Armagh & Tyrone Hurling Successes
Congratulations to Armagh and Tyrone Hurling teams who have succeed at All Ireland Ireland recently, with Armagh claiming the Nicky Rachard Cup and Tyrone claiming the Lory Meagher Cup at Croke Park.
Armagh eased to a 3-20 to 1-15 win over Louth in the Nicky Rackard decider.
Armagh never looked troubled as they claimed their second Nicky Rackard Cup title in three years, thanks to an 11-point win at Croke Park.
Goals were central to this Orchard County win, with Michael Johnston’s charges craving three-pointers in the opening half.
Armagh claimed a hat-trick before the interval, with Declan Coulter responsible for two of these majors while Conor Corvan also breached Louth keeper James Connolly’s goal-mouth.
In the earlier Lory Meagher final, Tyrone lead 1-12 to 3-4 at half-time in normal time but the game went to extra-time after it ended 1-20 to 3-14 after 70 minutes.
Fermanagh led by 3-17 to 1-21 at half-time in extra-time, with Tyrone reduced to 14 men at this stage following the dismissal of half-forward Aidan Kelly.
The Erne County held a one-point lead with three minutes remaining as Sean Corrigan brought up his Fermanagh tally to 1-8.
But Tyrone dug deep to his two late scores to edge the win at Croke Park.
John Duffy hit 0-7 for Fermanagh with Declan McGarry and Shea Curran both notching 1-1 for the unlucky Ernemen.
Justin Kelly scoring 1-8 and Sean Og Grogan who scored 1-3 were pivotal to the Tyrone success.
It was Tyrone’s second Lory Meagher Cup win.
