Ulster GAA Gaeltacht Course Launched in Jubilee Year
The Ulster GAA’s annual Gaeltacht course, Cúrsa Shéamuis de Faoite, has been launched by the provincial President, Martin McAviney, in Downings, Co. Donegal. The course will take place at Downings during the week of 22-27 July 2013.
This is the 25th year of the course. Séamus de Faoite, a local Gael who worked enthusiastically to promote the course during his lifetime, has been remembered in the name of the course since his death.
Ulster GAA President Martin McAviney said at the launch, “It gives me great pride as Ulster Council President to advance the Irish language and culture in every aspect of the Council’s activities. I wish every success on Cúrsa de Faoite in celebrating its twenty-fifth anniversary this year.”
As usual, Irish classes will be held for learners of all abilities during the week, as well as singing and dancing classes. There will also be variety entertainment every night, céilí dancing, a Scór concert and a silver jubilee ‘discussion forum’ on the first evening, at which special guests who have had a connection to the course will be present to share their memories.
A hearty welcome will be extended to GAA members who wish to learn Irish or improve their command of the language. An excellent week is promised. The course is free to GAA members, who have only to register early and organise their own accommodation.

Beidh siamsaíocht éagsúil ann gach oíche: céilí, ceolchoirm ‘Scór’ agus don chuimhneachán 25 bliain, reachtálfar ‘Dreas cainte’ ar an chéad oíche. Beidh aíonna speisialta a raibh baint acu leis an chúrsa i láthair lena gcuimhní cinn a roinnt.
Cuirfear fáilte chroíúil roimh bhaill CLG gur mian leo Gaeilge a fhoghlaim nó snás a chur ar an Ghaeilge atá acu. Gealltar seachtain den scoth. Beidh imeachtaí na seachtaine saor in aisce, ní gá ach clárú agus do lóistín féin a chur in áirithe.
