Club Seminars on Raising Income are a Huge Hit
Ulster GAA, Ulster Rugby, and the Irish FA continue their partnership with best practice seminars on increasing Club income.
Club volunteers from GAA, Rugby, and soccer attended jointly hosted seminars which delved into ways in which to increase club fundraising potential. Two events were held; in Lurgan Town FC on Monday 19th October, and in City of Derry RFC on Wednesday 21st October. Three workshops were delivered at each focusing on the importance of social media, how to attract club sponsorship, and club fundraising activities and events. Club case-studies gave testimony of how to utilise social media to maximise income through fundraising and sponsorship.
St Colms GAA Ballinascreen gave an overview into recent fundraising initiatives undertaken by the Club including their current ‘Tony’s Dream 2015’. Attendees were very keen to hear more about making such events successful. In making the figures stack-up Assistant Treasurer Paddy McEldowney was also keen to stress the importance of involving the entire community; “although events like our Big Breakfast raise much-needed funds for our Club, it is the feel-good factor created by the social aspect of such events that leave the lasting impression in our Community. You can’t put a price on that”.
The seminar was very positively received with clubs already thinking about how they can implement some of what they have heard. Lurgan RFC commented, “We would just like to thank all the contributors on behalf of the Club for the fantastic event. It has totally changed our outlook on what is achievable at our club and gave us great ideas. Next step is to try and implement them”.
The seminars were held as part of the DSD-funded programme ‘Sport; A Home for Lifelong Volunteering Programme’.
