Ulster GAA Referee Academy Graduation
Thirteen referees recently graduated from the Ulster GAA Referee Academy at a ceremony held in the Tyrone GAA Centre of Excellence.
The objective of the 24 month programme was to upskill and develop ‘up and coming’ referees with a view to empowering them to progress to officiating Gaelic games at Provincial level.
Participants were provided with assistance in the following areas:
• Goal Setting
• Fitness Development
• Work rate & Positioning
• Controlling Players & man management
• Nutrition & Hydration
• Psychology
• Injury Prevention
In attendance were Martin McAviney (Ulster GAA President), Dr Eugene Young (Ulster GAA Director of Coaching & Games), Patsy Mullen (Ulster GAA Referees Committee Chairman), Jim O’Rourke (Ulster GAA Referees Committee Secretary) and Ryan Mellon (Academy Coordinator).
The Referees who graduated were Eamonn McAuley, Karol Doherty, Paul McKeever (Antrim), Enda McFeeley, Sean Paul Doherty, James Connors (Donegal), Conor Dourneen, Pat Clarke (Cavan), Martin Conroy, Steven Campbell (Tyrone), Colin Murray, Fergal Maguire (Down) and Collum Rice (Fermanagh).
