The Ulster Convention held in Owenbeg was an extremely busy affair with the following officers elected for the year ahead:

Uachtáran: Michael Hasson (Aontroim)
Íar Uachtáran: Martin McAviney (Muineachán)
Leas Cathaoirleach: Oliver Galligan (An Cabhán)
Cisteoir: Ciaran McLaughlin (Tír Eoghain)
OCP: Michael Geoghegan (Ard Mhacha)
An Runai: Danny Murphy (An Dún)

Furthermore, for the first time ever, a lady was elected onto the Ulster Council. Down delegate Maureen O’Higgins comes from a family steeped in the GAA and coming from the Liatroim Club, Maureen has served as a Player and Administrator including holding the post of Chairperson within her Club.

Maureen is a former County Camogie player who won an All Ireland Junior Medal with Down in 1991 as well as winning several Club Championship medals at County and Provincial level.

She was nominated as County Development Officer at the 2010 Down Convention when she became the first lady elected to Coiste Banisti in Down. Maureen also serves as the County Integration Officer and is also currently her Club Development Officer. Maureen now makes history as the first lady elected to serve on Comhairle Uladh.

Maureen is married to Michael and is a mother to three girls, Eimear, Niamh and Grainne as well as being granny to Dearbhla and Enda. We wish her well in her new role.
