Evening of reflection on the GAA and the 1916 Rising
Uachtarán Cumann Luthchleas Gael Aogán Ó Fearghail attended an evening of reflection on the GAA and the 1916 Rising at the Garvaghey Centre in Tyrone on Thursday 26 May.
Organised by Comhairle Uladh, the event included an address from Uachtarán Ó Fearghail as well as Gary Carville, a member of the GAA History and Commemorations Committee.
Ulster GAA President Michael Hasson and Ulster PRO Michael Geoghegan welcomed the large crowd to the night of commemoration.
Musical performances came from Gairmsccoil Chú Uladh situated in the Gaeltacht Lár, Ballinamore, Cloghan, Co. Donegal.
The Tír Chonaill transition year group sang their self-composed ‘Nothing Beats Being There’ while Eimear Magee from St. Mark’s Secondary School, Warrenpoint, Co. Down performed Éireann go Brách. All Ireland Scór na nÓg winning ballad group Donaghmore Ceol Urlise also entertained the gathering with their musical performance.
