Our Cúchulainn Cup winning  team, Magherafelt Cúchulainns, recently participated at the All Britain Competitions hosted by Council of Britain at Greenford, the present home of Tír Chonaill Gaels. Magherafelt Cúchulainns were made up from pupils from Rainey Endowed School, and St Marys Grammar; and were chosen to represent Ulster GAA at the Games following their participation in Ulster GAA’s annual Cúchulainn Cup.

The Cúchulainns travelled to London from the 7th – 10th July where they toured the City of London, spent a day in Thorpe Park in addition to competing in the games with distinction.

The All British Competition involved teams from Gloucestershire, Herefordshire, Lancashire, London, Scotland, Ulster, Warwickshire and Yorkshire. The Competitions took place over four days including primary and secondary schools; Club teams at Under 8, 10, 12, 14, 16 and 18. Over 2000 juveniles enjoyed a feast of Hurling, Camogie, Ladies Football, and Gaelic Football.

Much credit is due to A B C organising committee under the leadership of John Gormley, Lloyd Colfer and the all action Brendie Brien. Uachtarán Cumann Lúthchleas Gael Aogan O’Farrell was on hand to carry out the many Presentations, while Ulster President Michael Hasson accompanied the Magherafelt Cúchulainns, representing Ulster GAA.

The team is pictured with Uachtarán C.L.G Aogán O’Fearghail and the Sam Maguire Cup.
