MacRory Cup Play-off venues and dates
Danske Bank MacRory Cup
Ulster Schools’ secretary Seamus Woods yesterday released the schedule for next week’s four play-off games in the Danske Bank MacRory Cup.
First up is the clash of the holders St Patrick’s Maghera with the other school that lifted a trophy last St Patrick’s Day – Patrician High Carrickmacross the MacLarnon Cup champions.
That game will take place in the Loup next Friday evening (27th) with a 7.30pm throw-in and Martin Conroy will be in charge.
There are two games in the Newry area on Saturday.
First up at 12.30pm in Carrickcruppin is the tie between last season’s beaten finalists St Paul’s Bessbrook and St Mary’s CBGS, while there will be an opportunity to dash across the city to Páirc Esler for the 2.30pm throw-in between St Colman’s and 2015 champions St Patrick’s Cavan.
Paul Faloon will be the referee in charge of the Carrickcruppin tie, but there is no referee appointed yet for Páirc Esler as the McKenna Cup final is down for decision the same evening.
The fourth and final tie will take place on Sunday afternoon (2pm) in Rossa Park, Magherafelt with the local St Mary’s Grammar poised to take on St Michael’s Enniskillen.
There are also changes to the schedule for the Danske Bank MacLarnon Cup which were not due for decision until the second week of February.
The anticipated top tie of the round has been brought forward until Saturday 28th in Omagh. The St Eunan’s Letterkenny v Our Lady’s Castleblayney game will have a 12 noon throw-in.
Another game has been brought forward as well. Our Lady’s & St Patrick’s Knock will be playing St Ciaran’s Ballygawley in Wolfe Tone’s GAC Derrymacash at 1pm on Thursday 2nd February.
Both these adjustments are due to pre-planned school trips.
There is still no confirmation of the remaining two games, but they are expected to take place on either Wednesday 8th or Thursday 9th February.
