Óg Spórt U15 Provincial Final
The Óg Spórt U15 Provincial Final was held last Saturday, September 2nd, in Killybegs, Donegal.
This event brings together the 7 a-side champions from each county in Ulster to compete in this prestigious annual blitz competition. With ideal conditions the day developed into a very entertaining and exciting event for both players and spectators with a superb standard of skills on show.
Lavey of Derry brought the Provincial title to the Oak Leaf county this year by defeating the Tyrone champions Carrickmore by 1-11 to 2-5 in the final. Both finalists had difficult semi-finals with Lavey defeating Emyvale of Monaghan 5-5 to 1-4 and Carrickmore beating Killeavy of Armagh 3-9 to 3-3 to earn their final spots.
The decider was a thrilling encounter with two excellent teams giving everything in trying to win the title. However it was the Derry men who went on to claim victory by 3 points. The Plate competition was won by Glenswilly, Donegal who defeated Longstone, Down in the final by 5-6 to 1-7.
Ulster Council Treasurer Ciaran Mc Laughlin was in attendance to make the presentation to the victorious teams and Ulster GAA would like to pay particular thanks to Killybegs GAA for their help and assistance in hosting this event.
