Twelve of the Carndonagh Community School players are doubling up at the moment. Having helped Scoileanna Inis Eoghain reach the Danske Bank Dr Maclarnon Cup semi-finals on Sunday, they overwhelmed St Malachy’s Belfast in Owenbeg yesterday to line-up St Joseph’s Donaghmore in the Markey Cup semi-finals.
The Donegal side took control from early in the game with the excellent Conor O’Donnell picking off some brilliant points. Seamus Houghton was another player looking very sharp and he scored 3-2 while substitute Sean O’Neill put his name in the hat for a starting jersey next Tuesday by shooting 2-1 in his 15 minutes of action.
Former winners of the competition, Coláiste na Carraige and St Patrick’s Keady play their quarter-final tomorrow (THURSDAY) in Bawnacre (5.30) and the winner there will be playing whoever comes out of Friday’s tie in Celtic Park (1pm) between the local St Columb’s College and St Columba’s Stranorlar
