Carrickmore into first O’Hara Cup final
Danske Bank Paddy O’Hara Cup semi-final:
Dean Mag Uirc Carrickmore 3-10 St Louis Kilkeel 1-7
After a cagey first half that ended with Dean Mag Uirc College Carrickmore leading by just 0-5 to 0-2, the Tyrone school managed to open up the play in the second and run out comfortable winners in this Danske Bank Paddy O’Hara Cup semi-final.
Overall they were the more composed team on the ball with Mícheál McElduff, Cathair McAnespie and James Donaghy always prominent, while Sean Conneely was the star forward on view.
Conneely kicked three of the Carrickmore first half points but McElduff’s goal early in the second half opened the game up. Soon after David Morris added a second goal and, although Tom O’Neill pulled one back with a Kilkeel penalty, Lorcan McGarrity slammed the door in their face with a third Tyrone goal ten minutes from time.
Despite the best efforts of Jack Houlihan and Cormac Keenan, it will be a Carrickmore v Loreto Coleraine final next week.
Dean Mag Uirc: David Morris 1-1, Mícheál McElduff 1-0, Lorcan McGarrity 1-0, Sean Conneely 0-6, 0-3 frees, Michael Rafferty 0-2, Patrick Quinn 0-1.
St Louis : Tom O’Neill 1-2, 1-0 pen, 0-2 frees, Lorcan Ruane 0-2, Conor Beakes 0-1, Cian Rodgers 0-1, Ronan O’Neill 0-1.
