Multi-Sport Schools Roadshow Inspires Youth Volunteering
Young people from Ballymoney this week participated in a highly successful multi-sport schools roadshow focusing on youth volunteering in sport.
The event jointly organised by Ulster GAA, Ulster Rugby and the Irish FA Foundation was hosted by Our Lady of Lourdes School and welcomed students from the neighbouring Dalriada School.
Activities included peer group discussion on sports volunteering with a focus on the benefit and barriers to volunteering as well as highlighting the range of volunteer opportunities available locally. In addition to this the participants were also made aware of the GoldMark Programme which all three sports co-ordinate in association with Volunteer Now to recognise young people volunteering in sport.
To conclude the workshop TAMHI led facilitated an interactive session on the impact of mental health, demonstrating a number of their Mental Health Games.
This event is part of the ‘Sport a Home for Lifelong Volunteering’ Programme funded by Department for Communities.
