Ulster GAA acknowledge the role of Tommy McCabe
On Sunday, at half-time in the Ulster Senior Football Championship Final, Ulster GAA formally recognised the contribution of Páirc Naomh Thairnagh Cluain Eois groundsman Tommy McCabe.
Ulster GAA President Oliver Galligan presented Tommy with a momento to acknowledge over three decades of service.
Ulster GAA would like to thank Tommy for his dedication and commitment and unswerving loyalty to his club, the ground and the GAA family in Ulster.
There’s a phrase in sport which says “Good games are only played on good grounds”. Whether true or not, the many great games played in St Tiernach’s Park ground over the past three decades are in some way as a result of the work of Tommy McCabe.
It was fitting and appropriate to acknowledge and celebrate the labour of love given by Tommy, with the support of his wife Josie and their family. Availability to tog out and prepare this ground for any match, be it college, county, club or provincial was never an issue. And with some 150 games annually it is a well-used venue so the task was challenging.
