Armagh into Casement final
Danske Bank Casement Cup semi-final
St Patrick’s Armagh 4-12 Rathmore 1-7
ST PATRICK’S Armagh are back in the Danske Bank Casement Cup final for the first time since they last collected the trophy eight years ago.
Although there wasn’t a lot between the teams during the first half, Lee Murtagh’s accuracy from frees and general play ensured that St Patrick’s held an interval lead of 1-5 to 0-3 – Murtagh scored all 1-5!
On the re-start Ruairc Murray pointed for Rathmore, but shortly after that, Ronan Davidson goaled and Armagh pulled clear with two points each for Davidson and Murtagh and one from Cian McCrory to lead by 2-10 to 0-5.
The Belfast side pushed forward in search of scores in the last ten minutes but left themselves open at the back and McCrory and Davidson goaled in quick succession to seal the win.
Apart from the three scorers, Aidan Harney, Fionntain Oliver, Caolán McReynolds and Dillon Fox shone for the Armagh side, while Louis Boyd in nets, Cal Burke, Cormac Blaney, Conor Jones, Dara Stevenson, Reuben Carlton and Ruairc Murray tried hard for the losers.
Another Belfast school, Our Lady’s & St Patrick’s Knock, will be their final opponents. They beat St Patrick’s Downpatrick in the first semi-final last week.
St Patrick’s : Ronan Davidson (2-3), Lee Murtagh (1-8), Cian McCrory (1-1)
Rathmore : Dara Stevenson (1-1), Ruairc Murray (0-6), Alan Hyndman (0-1)
