Danske Bank Sciath Loch an Iúir semi final
Loreto Coleraine 6-13 OL&SP Knock 5-10
LORETO Coleraine are through to the Danske Bank Sciath Loch an Iúir final after an open end-to-end game of attacking football in yesterday’s semi-final with Our Lady’s and St Patrick’s Knock.
Knock actually got off to the better start and were four points up, thanks to an early goal from Oran Donaldson, when Loreto were awarded their first penalty. Joe Dillon stepped up to confidently score and Coleraine forged ahead from that point.
Matthew Smith scored a second goal for Loreto and then Dillon found the corner with his second penalty. However Knock hit back with goals from Donaldson and Dara Cunnigham although Niall Clyde scored one for Coleraine in between.
Joe Dillon brought his first half tally to 3-1 with a third goal just before half time and Loreto were 5-4 to 3-4 ahead at the turn around.
Donaldson and James Blaney hit Knock points on the re-start but Coleraine were able to keep a gap of a goal plus between the sides until Donaldson completed his hat-trick and Luke Doran also found the net to tie the teams on 5-10 each with ten minutes to play.
However Eddie Kilmartin and Niall McLoughlin responded with excellent points and Matthew Smith to shoot to the Knock net for the decisive score.
On this showing, Conor McGarry, Smith and Joe Dillon from Coleraine and Donaldson, Doran and Oisin McGurk from Knock are all names to watch out for in the future.
The second semi-final is set for today (Tuesday) in Coláiste Feriste (1pm) and will feature St Paul’s Bessbrook and St Louis Ballymena.

St Paul’s Bessbrook 3-12 St Louis Ballymena 4-8 (AET)
TWO new scoring sensations were unveiled during this marathon Danske Bank Sciath Loch an Iúir semi-final in Coláiste Feirste yesterday afternoon.
Caolán McDonnell is one, but you will know his father – Stevie from Killeavy, while Oisin McCamphill was equally brilliant for St Louis Ballymena.
McCamphill who shot all their scores during the opening half as they led by 2-3 to 1-4 at the break, David Crilly goaling for St Paul’s.
Shea Ó Broin then scored a goal for St Louis at the start of the second half, but they were not able to contain McDonnell who slotted home a late penalty to put St Paul’s a point up.
McCamphill however claimed the ball from the kick-out and won a free which he converted to send the game into extra time.
The same player goaled during the first period of extra time to put St Louis ahead by three points. Ryan McKeever made it four early in the second period, but Bessbrook won a second penalty and again McDonnell did the business.
They were still a point in arrears and time running out until McDonnell then a free off the ground close to the side-line and equalised and the Killeavy forward then won the game with a booming point right at the death.
St Paul’s will now face Loreto Coleraine in the decider.
St Paul’s : Caolán McDonnell (2-6), David Crilly (1-1), Micheal McCreesh (0-1), Conor Loye (0-1), Aodhan Lynch (0-1), Fergal Boylan (0-1), Adam Reavy (0-1)
St Louis : Oisin McCamphill (3-7), Shea Ó Broin (1-0), Ryan McKeever (0-1).
