THE strong breeze had a big impact on this Danske Bank Rannafast Shield final in Garvaghey yesterday with St Macartan’s going 2-8 to 0-2 ahead at the break.
Aidan McKenna scored both their goals and was always a danger while Ruairi Treanor, Sean Treanor, Michael Hamill, Mark McPhillips and Dylan O’Reilly were others to play well for the Sem with Michael Forbes, Mark Doherty, Ethan Johnstone, Shea McAteer and Finn Glavin starring for St Pius X.
St Pius X closed the gap significantly in the opening ten minutes of the second half with six points, three from Doherty and two from Forbes.
However St Macartan’s were boosted by a goal on the break from Mark McPhillips that turned the tide and they added a fourth goal, scored by Michael Hamill so that there was just no way back for St Pius X
