60 years of the Mageean Cup
The Mageean Cup is awarded annually to the winners of the Ulster Schools’ Senior Hurling Championship.
The original trophy was presented to Ulster Colleges in 1963 by the staff and students of Dromantine College, Newry in memory of Most Reverend Daniel Mageean, Bishop of Down and Connor (1929 – 1962).
Following the publication in recent years of The MacRory Cup-The Story of Ulster Colleges Senior Football, Ulster Schools, in association with Danske Bank are planning a similar project to mark 60 years of the Mageean Cup.
There are many schools, current and former players and teachers/ coaches who will no doubt be able to contribute to this publication over the coming months.
In preparation, we will be asking you to submit photographs, articles, recall some of your memories and assist us with what will be another treasured publication by Ulster Schools GAA.
