St Mary’s ease to opening day win
It has been a long 20 months since the last game in the Danske Bank UK MacRory Cup was played back in March 2020, but this afternoon saw the meeting of St Patrick’s Grammar School Armagh and St. Mary’s Grammar School, Magherafelt get the 2021/22 competition underway.
And when Eoin McEvoy burst through the Armagh defence and finished to the net in the opening minute, St Mary’s were in the ascendancy from there on. A Ruairi Forbes goal and three points from Cathair Quinn saw the Magherafelt side lead comfortably at the break by 2-10 to 0-03.
St Patrick’s Armagh improved after the break, with James Conlon, Rónán O’Hanlon and Tadhg Grimley all battling bravely, but a Conchuir Johnston goal meant St Mary’s were never going to be reeled in.
Final Score
St Patrick’s Armagh 0-06
St Mary’s Magherafelt 3-16
