Cavan rescue a draw against Enniskillen with last kick

December 7th, 2021

?
The final team to take to the field in the 2021/22 Danske Bank MacRory Cup were St Patrick’s Cavan, and they needed an injury time mark from star forward Darragh Lovett to rescue a draw against St. Michael’s College, Enniskillen on Saturday in Killygarry GAA.
Following their opening round defeat to Omagh CBS, St Michael’s produced a much more accomplished performance on this occasion. Despite trailing 0-3 to 0-0 early on, they steadied themselves to lead by three at the break, with three points each from Diarmuid King and Conor McGovern.
Both sides traded scores early in the second half, and it looked like Enniskillen would hold out for victory until Favor Shehu jinxed his way through the St Michael’s defence and finish left footed to the net to tie the game. McGovern pushed Enniskillen ahead by one with time running out, until Lovett claimed a mark from 30 metres late on.
Full Time
St Patrick’s Cavan 1-08
St Michael’s Enniskillen 0-11
St Patrick’s: F Shehu 1-0, D Lovett 0-4, E Shehu, O McCrystal, C Casey and J McBreen 0-1 each
St Michael’s: C McGovern and D King 0-5 each, F O’Brien 0-1
