St Colman’s win leaves Lurgan out of luck
Victory for St Colman’s Newry in Friday’s 2021/22 Danske Bank MacRory Cup clash means that St Ronan’s College Lurgan run in this year’s competition is at an end, with St Patrick’s Maghera joining St Colman’s in qualifying from Section B.
St Colman’s were in the driving seat from early in the game with Caolan Finnegan’s goal putting them in at half-time with a lead of 1-7 to 0-6.
After the interval St Ronan’s pushed forward in search of a goal, but it left them open at the back and St Colman’s caught them on the counter-attack with Senan Carr setting up Aaron O’Neill for an easy finish.
St Ronan’s eventually got their reward for attacking when Emmett McGee bagged a goal, but their early exit from the competition was already on cards.
