St Mary’s make it two from two with victory over Abbey

December 6th, 2021

?
St. Mary’s Grammar School, Magherafelt made it two wins from two in the 2021/22 Danske Bank MacRory Cup on Friday, when they produced a strong second performance to see off the challenge from Abbey CBS at The Dub.
Abbey got off to the perfect start, with goals from Eoin Loughran and Luke McKeever giving them a commanding early lead. But Magherafelt slowly worked their way back into the game, with a Tom Shivers goal instrumental in turning the tide.
By half-time Abbey were 2-3 to 1-4 ahead and Luke McKeever popped over a free to stretch that to three points, but they were to score just once more.
The game-changer was Benin Kelly’s well worked goal to put St Mary’s ahead and sub Sean Byrnes added another goal to take them well clear and to a second comfortable win in Section A.
