ARTHURS CUP
There was late drama in the Danske Bank U16.5 Arthurs Cup yesterday afternoon, as St. Patrick’s Keady snatched victory with the last kick of the game against St Louis‘ Kilkeel. John Joe Hughes was the hero for the Armagh side, cooly slotting home the crucial penalty.
Kilkeel had started the stronger of the two sides, and a goal in the opening quarter gave them an early three point lead. Keady kept themselves in the game, with points from Hughes, Jack McClelland and Conor McNally levelling the sides at the break 1-02 to 0-5.
The second half started in much the same way, with Kilkeel landed two fine scores to edge themselves ahead again before McNally put Keady ahead for the first time with a goal just before the second water break. To their credit, Kilkeel battled to again lead by two, before the late penalty drama.
