Ulster GAA to ‘Club Together’ for Volunteer Conference

February 9th, 2022

Ulster GAA, in association with the Bank of Ireland, is set to host an insightful Club and Volunteer Conference on Saturday 19th February 2022.

‘Club Together: Evolve, Deliver and Progress’ will bring together high profile GAA and sporting personalities to explore the changing work of the GAA club and its volunteers.

The conference will take place online from 9:15am to 1pm, and free registration is now open. Demand is expected to be very high, so clubs and volunteers are urged to book their places to avoid disappointment.

Thomas Niblock, BBCNI Sport, will host proceedings with contributions from Tyrone’s All-Ireland winning joint-manager Feargal Logan, Antrim Camogie star Jane Adams, former GAA Uachtarán, Aogán Ó Fearghail, and Fiona Teague from the Public Health Agency. Guest speaker at the event will be Ulster and Ireland Rugby star Stephen Ferris, who will provide an overview from his own sporting experience and his perspective of the GAA.

Officially launching the conference Ulster GAA President, Ciaran McLaughlin, said:

“Our clubs are at the forefront of developing our association in every townland and parish across Ulster. The work of our volunteers is extraordinary and this conference, supported by the Bank of Ireland, is a celebration of those members and their tireless work.

“We can learn much from each other, and this event is an ideal opportunity to explore club planning to ensure our GAA units are sustainable long into the future, as well as other areas such as implementing health and wellbeing initiatives that benefit the whole community, facility planning and management, funding projects, and how to increase participation.

“We are delighted to have visited a number of outstanding clubs across these themes and the event will showcase short videos from St Peter’s Warrenpoint, Kildress Wolfe Tones, Buncrana and Clan na Gael, Lurgan, which illustrate how these clubs are setting high standards. Through a panel discussion, we will explore how your club can implement measures to also excel.”
