May 5th, 2022

Ulster GAA hosted the Provincial Schools One Wall Finals recently, with the girls final taking place at Clonoe Community Centre, and the boys at Red High Grammar School in Downpatrick.

Year 8 & 9 Girls

Teams from St Joseph’s Coalisland, Dean Maguirc Carrickmore, Dún an Rí Kingscourt and Beech Hill Monaghan all competed at the new Handball facility at Clonoe Community Centre. The majority of players were novice players competing for the first time and it was quickly evident that great coaching by the schools’ teachers. Beech Hill ran out eventual winners, beating Dean Maguirc in the final.

Year 8 & 9 Boys

Teams from Red High, St Marys Belfast, Dún an Rí Kingscourt, Beech Hill and Dean Maguirc qualified from the regional qualifiers, on finals day Red High and Dean Maguirc made it through the semi-finals to set up a very entertaining final. The Dean won both games in the final 15-10, 15-14 to take the title.

Year 10 & 11 Boys (southern 2nd & 3rd Years)

This competition was cancelled in November due to Covid, so it was great to get it ran alongside the younger age group, creating a great atmosphere for Finals Day. Red High eventually ran out winners thanks to a countback in the final against Dean, 15-14 and 11-15.

Many thanks to all schools for their continued support to these competitions. Any schools looking further info, please contact Shane McCann at / 07920528793.
