Sports Careers Day held at St Louis Grammar Kilkeel
Ulster GAA, The Irish Football Association, and Ulster Rugby delivered a Sports Careers Day event yesterday at St Louis Grammar School, Kilkeel under the Department for Communities programme, Sport – A Home for Lifelong Volunteering.
The focus of the day was based around highlighting the variety of career paths there are in sport and how young people can give themselves the best possible opportunity as they look towards their future.
Each participant took part in a short mock interview for a job within the sports industry which included PE Teaching, Sports Development, Coaching, Sports Science and Communication and Marketing. An overview was provided about the Sports Inspire Award and the benefits it may offer the young people in giving added value to their CVs.
To conclude the event, the Club and Community Development Officers from each code shared their career journeys to date highlighting the challenges they have encountered as well as providing key advice for the young people to take away.
