Ulster GAA help deliver Sports Careers Day in Lisburn

November 17th, 2022

Ulster GAA, the Irish FA, and Ulster Rugby recently delivered Sports Careers Day event in Lisburn under the Department for Communities programme, Sport – A Home for Lifelong Volunteering.

30 upper and lower sixth pupils from Forthill Integrated College and St Patrick’s Academy Lisburn attended the event. The focus of the day was based around highlighting the variety of career paths there are in sport and how young people can give themselves the best possible opportunity as they look towards their future.

Each participant took part in a short mock interview for a job within the sports industry which included PE Teaching, Sports Development, Event Management, Coaching and Sports Science. An overview was provided on the Sports Inspire Award and the benefits it may offer the young people in giving added value to their CVs.

To conclude the event the Club and Community Development Officers from each code shared their career journeys to date highlighting the challenges they have encountered as well as providing key advice for the young people to take away.
