Club Officers to start 2023 with Role Specific Training from Ulster GAA

December 20th, 2022

Ulster GAA has announced details for 2023 Club Officer Training set to take place in January for volunteers NEW to their roles as club officers.

This training is a must for all new club officers as it will provide essential information and role specific advice for the year ahead. Role specific training workshops are being offered for nine club officer roles including: Chairperson, Secretary, Treasurer, PRO, Children’s Officer, Coaching Officer, Development Officer, Healthy Club Officer and Cultural Officer.

All clubs across Ulster’s nine countries are encouraged to have attendance at these training events, which are run in partnership with the GAA Leadership Programme and Ulster GAA’s Volunteer Pathway. This training is also a requirement of Club Maith.

Club Officers play a vital role in our Association, leading local clubs and developing our games and culture. This training is designed to support club officers in their roles so that they can be the best they can be for the year ahead. All latest information and advice will be given by trained facilitators and Ulster GAA staff will be on hand to offer additional guidance, where necessary.

Ulster GAA has decided to deliver these important workshops online in recognition of the busy lives of our club volunteers and to avoid unnecessary travel during the winter months. This means clubs officers from across Ulster will be able to come together from the comfort of their own home to prepare for the coming year.

Ulster GAA President Ciaran McLaughlin launching the schedule of training workshops said, “Club Officers are the backbone of our Association delivering for local communities through their clubs.  It is vital that we support our club officers, all of whom are volunteers, to carry out their roles in the year ahead. That is exactly what this training aims to achieve to build awareness of key issues and develop understanding of key matters relating to your club officer role.

“Ulster GAA Club Officer Training Programme has been hugely successful in providing much needed support and guidance for new club officers building stronger clubs and developing stronger communities across Ulster.  I urge all new club officers to attend these sessions and any club officer or committee member wishing to brush up on their knowledge are also very welcome to attend.”

All clubs are encouraged to ensure they have attendance at this round of online workshops.
