Ulster GAA announces €1.1m club development funding
Ulster GAA is delighted to announce an award of €1,166,822 through its GAA Club Infrastructure Development Grants for 2022.
The aim of the scheme is to assist clubs in the improvement and development of their physical infrastructure, with capital works completed between 01/11/2019 and 30/09/2022 eligible for support.
Ulster GAA President Ciaran McLaughlin commented:
“The grant programme reopened this year, having been closed to applications during the pandemic. Both the level of award and the number of successful clubs are the highest ever allocated from Ulster GAA in a single year, with 155 clubs being supported through awards totalling over €1.1m.”
“I’ve had the opportunity to visit a number of the recipient clubs and see the tremendous work they’ve completed over the last three years. In total, there was physical development expenditure of over €23m across all applications, and all of these clubs deserve great credit for their efforts over a very challenging period. Ulster GAA wanted to recognise these efforts and that is why we have decided to support this high number of applications.”
The scheme is jointly funded by Central Council GAA (€690,000) and Ulster GAA (€476,822), and the following areas of development were considered for support:
- Purchase of Grounds
- Pitch Development
- Spectator Accommodation
- Pavilion Development
- Additional Development including Sustainable Infrastructure
Ulster GAA Treasurer, Declan Woods concluded:
“The level of funding provided in this instance is a testament to the progressiveness of the clubs within our nine counties and the commitment of Ulster GAA in supporting them.
“I want to acknowledge the dedication of the Ulster GAA finance team in ensuring a robust and credible process of adjudicating the applications.”
