Owenbeg hosts opening Ulster GAA U-15 Player Football Academy day
The first of three Ulster U-15 Regional Player Academy Camps for 2023 took place this week in the Derry Centre of Excellence, Owenbeg.
The three counties involved were Antrim, Derry and Donegal, with ten players selected from each county to participate.
During the morning sessions, a number of presentations were delivered to the players such as developing resilience and athletic development, as well as On the Field Skills Sessions focusing on game sense & decision-making, skill revision and also specific coaching sessions for the goalkeepers.
In the afternoon, players participated in full sided games where video and performance analysis was used to feedback on positional play and statistics.
Also, we had the pleasure of having Donegal senior player Oisin Gallen as a special guest in attendance, and his Q & A session with the young players was one of the highlights of the day. Oisin himself had attended the camp as a player in 2016.
A great day was had by all and now we look forward to our next two regional academies which are being held on the dates below with counties involved:
26th July, Garvaghey Co. Tyrone (Down, Fermanagh & Tyrone)
9th August, Cloghan, CO. Monaghan (Armagh, Cavan & Monaghan)
