Seán McCashin RIP
It is with deep sadness and a huge sense of shock that Ulster GAA mourns the passing of our esteemed colleague and friend Seán McCashin.
Seán, a Down GAA delegate to the Ulster Council and a proud member of the Ballykinlar club, passed away suddenly at the weekend.
For his entire life, Seán selflessly served Gaelic Games throughout many roles.
For his beloved Ballykinlar he was a player and later long-time administrator. He was a team selector when the club won a Down Junior Championship title in 1995, and participated as a Scór competitor too.
He was the PRO of the East Down Committee, having in the past held every office of that committee, including Secretary for many years. Seán’s dedication and commitment to GAA in East Down is immeasurable.
Seán represented East Down on the County Committee and also served as County Youth Officer, before being elected by the clubs of Down as one of their two representatives on the Ulster Council. He was also a member of the Ulster GAA Hearings Committee, and he held these provincial positions with great distinction at the time of his sad passing.
Seán was also an active referee, and recently served as assistant secretary of the Down LGFA County Committee, greatly assisting wherever he could the organisation and playing of games.
All at Ulster GAA are deeply saddened by his passing and we offer our deepest condolences to Seán’s wife Annette, his son Richard, his grand-children Luke, Farrah and Bonnie, his brother Patrick and sisters Annemarie and Sharon, and all of his extended family, many friends and colleagues.
We remember also his colleagues at Ballykinlar GAA Club and on the Down County Committee. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.
