GAA For ALL plays Starring role at Ulster SFC Semi Finals!

April 29th, 2024

The GAA For ALL All-Stars in Ulster took centre stage during the weekend’s Ulster Senior Football Championship Semi Finals!

Nearly 140 players from from ten clubs and organisations across the province were the stars of the show during halftime of the games in Clones and Celtic Park.

Ulster GAA For ALL programme is rapidly growing and provides a fantastic opportunity for those with additional needs to be included in the GAA, not only for participation and exercise but also for the social experiences.

D’eascair an clár seo as an mhian atá againne mar Chumann deis imeartha a chruthú do gach duine.

Kieran McKeever, on behalf of the Ulster Games for ALL working group outlined the simple steps to establish Games for ALL in your club:

“We would respectfully ask all those interested in helping to get in touch. Then it is a case of complete vetting, safeguarding training, an Introduction to Gaelic Games Course and do adapted games training from Ulster GAA.   We will ensure that there is equipment and then it is a case of advertising to club members”.

Shane McCann, Ulster GAA’s Games for ALL co-ordinator added:
“The Games for All initiative has seen extraordinary growth post covid with over 40 clubs now providing opportunities on a variety of levels and Ulster GAA are working hard to ensure each club is supported, especially around governance and coach education”.

Ulster GAA President Ciaran McLaughlin commented: “The GAA values include inclusiveness, and the Games for ALL initiative provides opportunities for those who previously wouldn’t have been provided with the chance tom play Gaelic games.

“Our Games For ALL Programme is going from strength to strength, and I would encourage anyone reading this to start their own?group. You won’t regret it.”

The inaugural Ulster GAA Games For All Festival took place last summer in Donaghmore GAC, Co. Tyrone, where 17 teams from clubs and organisations across the province took part in a fun-filled day of inclusive activities open to all ages and abilities, which includes Gaelic football, hurling, handball and rounders, face-painting, sensory bus and garden, and photos with the Ulster Football Championship Anglo-Celt trophy. Tá ról nach beag ag na cluichí agus ag an Chumann féin i saol an duine, fásann cairdeas agus spiorad pobail sa CLG. Tá áit dúinn uilig ann, agus cuirtear fáilte roimh chách.
