Ulster GAA launch ‘One Punch Can Kill’ awareness initiative
Ulster GAA recently launched the ‘One Punch Can Kill’ video campaign at Tyrone GAA Centre, Garvaghey.
The initiative aims to raise awareness of the serious, and potentially life-threatening, consequences of ‘one punch’.
Compered by Aisling O’Reilly, a discussion was had with Consultant Clinical Neuropsychologist Dr Shane McCarney, solicitor Niall Murphy, Ulster GAA Secretary/CEO Brian MCAvoy and the GAA’s Player Welfare Manager Eoghan Tuohey on the experiences and implications one-punch attacks can have both for victims, and perpetrators.
Unfortunately, there has been an increase in the prevalence of one-punch acts, with injuries becoming increasingly devastating. Ulster GAA have developed this programme with the aim of educating players, coaches and supporters about the serious repercussions of One Punch.
All clubs and counties are strongly encouraged to ensure all teams from teenage age grades and upwards watch the video and adhere to the advice given.
