Ulster GAA Young Leaders Shining Bright

December 12th, 2024

Ulster GAA celebrated its young volunteers at an awards lunch in Armagh City Hotel ahead of the AIB Ulster Club Senior Football Final on Sunday.

Twenty-seven young GAA members from clubs across Ulster have now completed the 2024 Ulster GAA Young Leaders Programme, gaining essential knowledge and understanding of key issues relating to the GAA and sport in general.  Through the six-month programme, the young people achieved several prestigious awards including:

  • Ulster GAA Young Leaders Award 2024
  • Ulster GAA Introduction to Coaching Gaelic Games Award
  • Ulster GAA Safeguarding Award
  • Ulster GAA For All Award
  • Sports Inspire 50 Award
  • Gaisce – the President’s Bronze Award or Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award
  • Volunteer Now’s Youth Impact Award

Presenting the young people, Ulster GAA President Ciaran McLaughlin said: “Every year we are extremely impressed by the committed and hard-working young people who undertake our Ulster GAA Young Leaders Programme, and this year is no different.

“The young people have all volunteered in their club, making a real impact, while also gaining knowledge and understanding to help them progress their volunteering within the GAA.  They have given up their time and in doing so have achieved an impressive set of awards which will serve them well, not only in the GAA but also in their future education and employment.”

Ciaran concluded: “These young people are fantastic ambassadors for the GAA. I have no doubt they will all continue to play an important role in our Association through their clubs, schools and counties.  I congratulate all the young people involved.”
