The annual Further Education Colleges 7-a-Side Gaelic Football Blitz took place at Mid Ulster Sports Arena Cookstown this week.
Held each autumn, the Blitz offers new students the chance to meet classmates, represent their colleges and enjoy Gaelic football in a friendly and inclusive atmosphere.
The 7-a-side format is specifically designed to encourage participation from all colleges, including smaller institutions that may find it challenging to field a full 15-a-side team.
This year’s event attracted over 100 participants, many of whom were taking part in Gaelic Games for the very first time. College sports lecturers also used the opportunity to observe new talent, with several promising players catching the eye for potential selection on college teams.
Open to all full-time Further Education College students, the Blitz remains a key fixture on the college sporting calendar, promoting friendship, inclusion and the shared enjoyment of Gaelic Games.
