Young GAA Volunteers at UEFA Championship
Ulster GAA in partnership with the Irish FA Foundation brought a group of young GAA volunteers to get the full volunteering experience at the UEFA Womens U19 Championships at the National Soccer Stadium at Windsor Park, Belfast on Tuesday 8th August.
This initiative is part of a joint sports project between Ulster GAA, the Irish FA foundation and Ulster Rugby and is sponsored by the Department for Communities. This is one of the few, if not the first time, that GAA volunteers have assisted at a UEFA match.
The young people, from Killeavy GAA, Carryduff GAC, St Brigid’s GAC and Ballycran GAA assisted with the fanzone prior to the Opening Ceremony and were delighted to attend the NI v Spain game as part of their experience.
As part of this multi-sports volunteering experience Ulster GAA will welcome IFA and Ulster Rugby Volunteers to the Ulster Club Championship Final and a similar opportunity will be hosted by Ulster Rugby. The initiative aims to promote good relations among sports volunteers and also to develop the volunteer experience and the skills associated.
