The Armagh Cormac Leonard Commercials Club Championship continues on August 29th and 30th when the Senior Semi Finals get underway and first up on Saturday evening is a clash between Pearse Og and Maghery.
The city side Pearse Og advanced to the semi final after the first Armagh championship game in history to be decided on a penalty shootout, after defeating Madden Raparees. Paul Duffy was the hero on the night as he slotted home the game-winning penalty. The experienced Maghery side booked their place in the semi-final after a second senior quarter final went to extra-time, claiming a one-point victory over Clann Eireann.
Under the helm of former player Stephen Kernan, Crossmaglen Rangers take on the south Armagh side Killeavy in the other semi-final. A youthful Killeavy side finished strong over Armagh Harps to claim their place in the final four. The Rangers ran out a convincing win over neighbours Mullaghbawn powering their way to the semi-finals, but can they retain their championship crown for the third year in row?
Armagh’s Club Hurling Championship will take centre stage this weekend with the clash of last years senior finalists meeting in the quarter final. Middletown Na Fianna take on last years county champions Keady Red Hands – the winner of this game will certainly fancy their chances of going the whole way in this year’s senior championship. In the Junior quarter final Killeavy face re-emerging St. Malachy’s Portadown who have brought hurling back to Portadown after many years and will take place on Sunday in Pearse Og Park.
