February 6th, 2018

Ulster GAA are delighted to have assisted 24 clubs across Cavan, Donegal and Monaghan in securing €968,882 in the 2017 Sport Capital Programme Grant announced in November 2017 by the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport.

The programme is the primary means of providing Government funding for capital projects to sport and community organisations at local, regional and national level. The 2017 round of the Programme closed for applications on the 24th February 2017 and by that date a record number of 2,320 applications were received. €56m was then allocated to over 1,700 different sporting projects in November 2017.

Ciarán McLaughlin Ulster GAA Treasurer commented “Ulster GAA worked closely with the County development officers in Cavan, Monaghan and Donegal to offer guidance and feedback to the clubs in attendance. The very high return of over 70% of clubs being successful represents a marvellous outcome.”

Ciarán continued “in 2018 Ulster GAA will continue to actively support clubs to pursue funding opportunities, we encourage clubs considering development to speak firstly with their County development officer who will then engage with appropriate person at Ulster GAA”.
