In its first year, nine clubs from across the province have achieved the award which has Level 2 status on the Ulster GAA Volunteer Development pathway. Throughout February and March participants attended modules in Leadership, Management, Club Planning, Marketing, Finance, Fundraising, Partnerships, and Capital Project Management.

Speaking at the event Michael Hasson said “Club involvement in the programme has shown that they are committed to their development both on and off the pitch. We had over thirty clubs expressing an interest in this award, so as one of only nine clubs to be selected and to go on and complete the programme each club should be proud of their achievements, hopefully they can reap the benefits of the training and become stronger as a result.”

Each module was delivered by a volunteer tutor who had knowledge in their relevant area through experiences at club, county, provincial and national level as well as their own professional background. Michael thanked them for their commitment saying, “the quality of the content delivered was strengthened by the calibre of individuals who volunteered as tutors, their shared knowledge and experiences have contributed greatly to the success of the programme. I would like to thank John O’Neill, Ciaran McLaughlin, Susan Brady, Rory O’Brien, Chris Curran, Feargal McCormack, Ailish McEntee, Sheila Kelly, Anne Garvey, Marie Garvey and Declan McAleer for their involvement.”
