Leadership Programme for Young Women in Sport

January 20th, 2017

The Leadership and the Young Female Athlete Residential Programme takes place at Tollymore Mountain Centre on January 28th and 29th as a joint initiative between Women’s Football, Ladies Gaelic Football, Camogie and Handball.

Six young women from each sport aged between 18-21 years have been identified as ‘Future’ Leaders’ in their sport. Attending the residential programme they will be involved in practical and classroom based activities focused on leadership. The sessions will be led by Jo Hopkins formely of the Sports Institute and now a leading presenter in this area of work.

The young women will also get the opportunity to engage with two of Ulster’s leading female athletes. Both Neamh Woods (netball and ladies football) and Angela Platt (women’s football and hockey) have played their sports at the highest levels and both have managed their training competition and career development successfully. In addition both are regarded as leaders in their sports.

We look forward to a great programme that will build capacity in our female sports with ‘Tomorrow’s People, Tomorrow’s Leaders’.
